MillenniumCon 20 - Ogre and Hordes of the Things

Another year, another great MillenniumCon ! Attendance was up this year! That's great to see new players showing up. That's another testament to the success of our little convention. Typically, I'll spend a lot of time with administration of the event. This year, I wanted to participate in more games. So, I made myself scarce around the registration table. It seems like when I am close to that area, some kind of task comes up. My attention gets pulled in some direction. I got to play in Desert Scribe's Ogre Miniatures game called, the Siege of Steelville . Click on the link to see his battle report. Scribe always puts on a good Ogre game!  I was part of the team defending the city, which suffered not one, but TWO cruise missile detonations. I wish I could say how bad I feel about letting the nukes past the defense perimeter, but in the post-apocalyptic genre, there's gonna be a nuclear detonation from time to time. I also participated in the Annual Hordes o...

Fall 2016 Catch Up Post

Life has caught up to me again and not much gaming has been done for a long stretch. Back in September, I was working furiously on my Glider Rifle company in a desperate attempt finish in time for the Late-War FOWSA tournament. Sadly, my wife got a call that a close family member was very ill. This prompted us to jump in the car on the day of the tournament and rush to be with family. I wonder if I'm ever going to attend this tournament. Here is short recap of the games I was able to participate in. MillenniumCon 19 was successful for another year. I'm part of the convention staff but could only make it to the con for one afternoon. While, I was there, I took part in the HUGE Ogre game put on by Desert Scarab. I was given the GEV-Ogre to command. Not one but TWO nuclear-tipped cruise missiles were launched and and the beautiful city of Monopolis was left burning. For details on the game, check out Scarab's blog here . There is a full photo gallery of the enti...

OwlCon: Ogre

OWLCon is a RPG/Boardgame/Miniatures convention held every year on the campus of Rice University in Houston, TX.  I was able to make the trip and participate for Saturday only. This is a great convention! It has a mix of RPGs, boardgames, and miniatures so everyone can find something that fits their tastes. I showed up for the morning session of OGRE in the dining area of the small cafe. It was convenient for me because the day just doesn't begin for me without a cup of coffee! Basically, the game was HUGE! A series of five boards lined up side-by-side. The same scenario was setup on each board with three players per board. Two attacking players commanded on MkV Ogre each while the third player ran a fencer.  The GM handled the infantry units, GEVs, laser towers and howitzers on all the boards. I played one of the MkV's. My co-OGRE was commanded by young paduwan Daniel. Our opponent was William. The Order of Battle was as follows: 2x Mk V Ogres Vs 1x fencer wi...
